The Reassurance Network was fortunate to enjoy a long and fruitful working relationship with Camelot - the operator of the UK National Lottery - during the evolution of its ground breaking Corporate Responsibility programmes.

We worked together for three years in total, providing third party independent assurance for Camelot's Corporate Responsibility reports (both their substantial online reports as well as their printed summaries). These report verifications and assurance statements were carried out in accordance with GRI guidelines and AA1000 Assurance Standards, ensuring we assessed the completeness, accuracy and materiality of the report content as well as Camelot's responsiveness to its prior commitments, our recommendations and the interests of their stakeholders. Our assurance included us observing Camelot's stakeholder dialogues and independently researching stakeholder views. We also attended an independent advisory panel meeting every year, chaired by one of their non-executive directors. Our findings were presented to this panel, and to senior management each year, alongside our broader recommendations for CR management and operational development. A summary of these recommendations was also included in the public assurance statement.

As well as report verification and assurance, we were also invited to carry out a number of strategic reviews of Camelot's CR management and systems. These included Stakeholder Engagement, Supply Chain management and CR governance. In 2006, Camelot asked The Reassurance Network to assist them with a review of their Responsible Play and player protection initiatives. This project involved research and benchmarking against international best practice and led to a series of recommendations.
