The Reassurance Network has assured E.ON UK's annual Corporate Responsibility reports to the AA1000 Assurance Standard. Accordingly, we addressed the materiality and accuracy of content, as well as E.ON's responsiveness to its stakeholders, its own commitments and our recommendations. We issued public assurance statements to provide assurance to stakeholders and to highlight to E.ON its Corporate Responsibility programme's strengths and opportunities for future development. These areas included: Governance and Management; Employee Engagement; Integration and Stakeholder Engagement. The statements were intended to enhance the report content, provide the reader with a better insight into EON's main responsibilities and help to shape the future direction of its CR programme.

As part of our assurance work, we were asked to complete a number of broad ranging CR-related management reviews. These allowed us to look deeply into the functioning of the company, identifying the main risks and opportunities they faced. We were able to establish where E.ON currently stood with regards to these risks and opportunities, and also how it might be able to further strengthen its CR management.

We have also completed extensive stakeholder engagement programmes for E.ON, both in the UK and abroad, using online survey technology.

Finally, we were also commissioned by E.ON to certify its green tariffs, which offer customers the opportunity to purchase renewable electricity. Formal certification was introduced in 2009 by the UK regulator, OFGEM, and we are proud to have been amongst the first to develop the methods to undertake this very specific type of certification.
