SGS is the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, employing 59,000 people in over 140 countries. It used The Reassurance Network's experience of report assurance to compile and create its first Corporate Responsibility report: 'When We Need To Be Sure'.

We wanted to create an engaging report that satisfied the key stakeholders, met international standards and gave a balanced and accurate portrayal of SGS's sustainability performance. We carried out an extensive benchmark of the sector and then undertook face to face interviews with potential content providers to understand the main areas that the report should cover. As part of the reporting process, we also used our online survey tool to gain stakeholder input and to survey the opinions of over 400 employees across all regions. The feedback from these surveys shaped the report. Our structured approach and close cooperation with SGS management meant that we were able to create a final draft in less than 6 weeks.

We have also created training modules to support a number of global sustainability programmes, which include innovative elearning progrmmes which we have developed with SGS to raise awareness of sustainability, and to help communicate its first CR Report to its employees.

We have recently completed SGS' third sustainability report, When We Need To Be Sure, published in March 2012. To support the internal communication of corporate sustainability and business integrity, we also created a series of training and e-learning modules. These training materials have been translated into 14 languages and made accessible to over 59,000 SGS employees.
