STMicroelectronics is one of the world's largest manufacturers of semiconductors, employing over 50,000 staff in 36 countries. The Reassurance Network worked closely with ST's Sustainable Excellence team to develop a corporate responsibility strategy and supporting communications that could be applied throughout the business to create change and promote innovation in CR.
We carried out a detailed review of CR practices, visiting seven major sites to assess areas such as ethical business conduct; employee management; supplier integrity; protection of the environment and community engagement. In these key impact areas we highlighted what we perceived to be the business' strengths and weaknesses, advising them on how to attain international best practice in these areas. As part of this work we also helped develop and implement a new Code of Business Conduct. Many of our conclusions and recommendations were published in the company's annual CR report.
ST has won over 100 awards for its sustainable excellence programme.
