The World Lottery Association is an industry body representing lotteries across the world, set up to establish and share standards of best practice. In 2008, the WLA launched a global set of principles for responsible gaming, designed to promote a universal level of player protection by lottery operators around the world. Lotteries are invited to apply for one of the four levels of alignment. Malcolm Guy was appointed as one of five founding members of an independent panel, set up with the specific task of assessing lotteries' performance in responsible gaming and recommending certification status.
