BSCI is an initiative to improve social compliance throughout business supply chains.
The Initiative is framed around a monitoring and certification scheme that is based on ILO, UN and OECD conventions and standards. Certification can only be carried out by recognised third party auditors, and success is dependent on adherence to BSCI Code of Conduct, as well as System Rules. The Code of Conduct reinforces important ILO, OECD and UN principles such as the abolition of child and forced labour, the assurance of Health and Safety standards and reasonable hours of work and pay.
