The FLO is an organisation that promotes fair trade, through a well-known labelling scheme, as well international initiatives. According to the organisation, fair trade is that which ensures 'all producers can enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods'. In essence, the organisation tries to ensure that producers down the supply chain are treated well (i.e. given fair prices, working conditions and trading contracts).
The Fairtrade Label is given to products that meet certain criteria that the organisation deems 'fair': these include social and environmental standards and also the assurance that producers receive the 'Fairtrade Minimum Price and Premium'. Only FLO-Cert auditors can certify Fairtrade products.
Details of the standards can be seen by visiting the FLO website.
We offer a range of services to aid businesses in managing their supply chains responsibly, and to help suppliers meet required sustainability standards.
