GHG Protocol Initiative

The GHG protocol is an accounting framework for all GHG standards and programmes. Founded by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the GHG protocol aims to help businesses calculate GHG emissions and create inventories accordingly. The initiative provides calculation tools for a variety of sectors and also offers accompanying advice and guidance to businesses concerning their GHG accounting.

The GHG protocol is internationally recognized and is relevant to all sectors, it has also been the foundation to governmental strategies and international standards, meaning its calculation methods and advice are relevant to a range of widely used standards such as the Climate Registry and the ISO.
