International bodies such as the UN and the OECD have, for many years, debated upon the responsibilities of individuals, nations and businesses. As a result, such organisations have published numerous sets of standards, principles or guidelines that may or may not have been adopted in international and national law. Many of these are highly relevant in business today.
These are a few that are most relevant to our work:
The UNGC is an internationally recognised set of principles that sets out key areas that businesses must focus on in order to ensure that "markets, commerce, technology and finance advance in ways that benefit economies and societies everywhere".
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions are an expansive list of conventions that lay out internationally agreed labour standards. Many of these are directly relevant to Corporate Responsibility.
The OECD Anti-Bribery Convention is centred around a set of legally binding standards that criminalise the bribery of foreign public officials in international business transactions.
