Basel Convention

Basel Convention

The Basel Convention is a convention on the control of trans-boundary movements and disposal of hazardous wastes.

Although much of the convention content is aimed at nation-states, certain sections are very relevant for business' environmental responsibility. The convention (in Annex I, II and III) defines the categories of hazardous waste types. This is essential for reporting in the area of responsible environmental management and is a requirement of the GRI G3 reporting guidelines.
